WHOLE LIVING / BODY + SOUL MAGAZINE
editing / writing / fact-checking / research

I spent three years as an editor for the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia magazine Whole Living, (retitled from Body + Soul). Like the flagship Martha Stewart Living, each issue was full of beautifully styled and photographed stories about food, interior design, DIY ideas, and self-care products.

My role: Associate Editor
I collaborated with everyone involved in producing 10 yearly issues—photographers, art directors, food stylists, prop stylists, writers, and editors. I’m grateful to have helped create what are widely considered some of the most influential magazine pages of all time (see: Netflix’s 2024 documentary Martha).

As associate editor, I programmed, executed, and edited the beauty section for every issue, including a monthly editor’s picks product page.

To bring the section to life, I assigned stories to writers, fielded pitches from publicists, tried new products, planned and attended shoots, and edited all pages.

In addition to beauty, I covered the sustainable fashion and athletic wear markets for the magazine, as well as DIY, inner growth, and food.

below: For this feature, I interviewed five women about their personal style. We shot it with photographer John Dolan in New York City in 2009, partially at The High Line, which had just opened.
